The Fire Reserves begin with the free online S-130/190 Wildland Fire Training, providing the same entry-level knowledge taught to wildland firefighters. Participants who complete the course may apply to become members of the E3/KFM Fire Reserves and continue with in-person training focused on local wildfire preparedness and response.
By building a trained group of local community members, we strengthen our collective ability to respond safely when wildfire threatens the Crestone Baca area.

The Fire Reserves are for people who care about the safety of the Crestone Baca community and want to become better prepared for wildfire. Previous firefighting experience is not required, but applicants must successfully complete the free online S-130/190 course before applying.

How to Join
1. Complete the Free Online Training
Take the S-130/190 course to learn the same entry-level concepts taught to wildland firefighters.
2. Apply to the Fire Reserves
After completing the course, submit your application through E3/KFM.
3. Attend In-Person Training
Learn practical skills including pumps, hoses, fire trucks, fire line construction, structure protection, and safety.
4. Become Part of the Reserves
Accepted members join a trained local team that may respond to wildland fires when needed.
Apply to the E3/KFM Fire Reserves
Successful completion of the free online S-130/190 course is required before applying.
